Been coming here ever since I was a kid. So I might be a bit biased. I dont recall ever having a bad experience here. It's a relatively large place that is generally busy for dim sum. But I went for dinner because they had a special for peking duck. The deal is enough to feed 4-6 people for $128, so it's an absolute steal. It's not the best duck ever but it's still enjoyable. I think I prefer coming for dim sum, but it's a nice option for a mid-large group dinner.

I have had many DimSum experiences in my time...but none, and I mean *none* come anywhere near this close to unique and tasty. The environment is highly well decorated and very ornate. The servers are a bit hard to communicate with but a little patience will bring you a long way. The food? Absolutely unique in every sense of the word. This restaurant obviously specializes in seafood, but this restaurant does so much more than that and everything is fresh and flavorful. I should note that very few restaurants specialize in pandan-based desserts so I would highly recommend coming here not only for the food, but that as well.

We enjoyed our private party banquet meal from veggies to duck to soup to noodles. All was served warm and tasty. Service was quick and attentive. Place is bright and clean.

I went to this restaurant with my family in the Oakland area for dim sum on Easter Sunday. The place was clean and it's a common chill area with decent service. They speak both mandarin and Cantonese as well as English. My favorite was their fried shrimp dumpling it was a very unique taste. The other dim sums we got were decent quality. The dessert pigs and apple balls were delicious. Overall a decent place to stop by!

Classic, traditional Cantonese restaurant. Good for big groups or family gatherings. Food is pretty decent. Portion size is bigger than I expected too. Some may not like the American Chinese food here. I think it's much better than Panda Express. We didn't try their dim sum this time. Will definitely come back for that!

Peony has been around for DECADES. I've had my fair share of family dinners and weddings here. I think they recently have new management and definitely remodeled the layout of the restaurant; looks so much better! They have two service times, dim sum/ lunch and dinner. Closed in between and on Tuesday. Recent encounters of dim sum have been great. Prices have obviously increased. Haven't had dinner here recently. As an Oakland native, I feel like this is one of the only staple Chinese restaurant left. So with that said, I've learned to appreciate Peony. And you should at least try this restaurant once if you consider yourself from Oakland.
